20 in 20 update

so who wants to guess how well im doing on my 20 lbs in 20 weeks challenge? anyone? anyone?

yea, crashing and burning would be the correct answer here. i say this with as much love for my awesome self as i can muster: i am a lazy fuck. my current weight is 5.2 lbs higher than i need to be to make my goal. with only four weeks left and 10ish lbs to go, i kinda want to throw in the towel. hit the reset button and start all over. why are those last 10 so hard? it's like my body is freaking out that i'm trying to treat it better. "but what if i neeeeed those lbs later? like during the impending zombiepocalypse!?" my body is a fat hoarder... and i'm aiding and abetting

motivation, are you out there? please come hang out with me again... please?

0.6 up

as grumbly as i've been about my recent fluctuations, i am happy with this number. the wii said i was 1.something up yesterday (after ZERO change all week). it's a little ridiculous. for some reason, i just cant find the motivation to get back in to my previous awesome habits. i've lost over 35 lbs since i started, which is a HUGE accomplishment. but i still have 30ish to go to be at a healthy weight for my height. maybe i should work on getting taller instead :p

i've become such a bump on a log despite all my fancy talk of getting back into the groove. if you have any suggestions on getting motivated, please pass them along :)

marvelous monday

this week is brought to you by my awesome possum girls:

we discussed self care at last week's meeting, and the weight watchers weekly had a section on learning different strategies by looking to your friends. for the entire time that i've known them, my girls have been super supportive of me, always there when i need to vent or cry and always ready with quality advice. weight watchers breaks the roles down into the project manager, the straight shooter, the comforter and the party girl. oddly, the four of us fit nicely into those categories

- project manager (HHF) - "encouraging, a great listener and full of insightful and useful suggestions". H is the first one to throw out advice when things are overwhelming. she'll tell me in her own sweet way that i need to step back and reassess situations, whether im willing to do it or not

- straight shooter (JP) - "tells you exactly what she thinks, and there's no fooling her.... demands the best of you, so that's what you give". JP is the no nonsense, calls it at she sees it friend. even if she doesn't say it, it reads on her face, which is one of the many reasons i adore her. you always know where you stand with her, and she really does push me to be better

- comforter (EH) - "there to support you, sympathize with you and help you get through it.... offers nurturing advice so you can get back on your feet". E has seen me cry on more than one occasion, and she's always there to pull me through whatever is going on. she also subtly steers me towards better decisions

- party girl - "focuses on getting the most out of every situation. if she doesn't want to do something, she says no - without feeling guilty about it". yea, that'd be me. i do put myself, my desires, my needs first. my problem is that i have so many "needs" that it's hard to prioritize them. i'm still fumbling through that conundrum, but i definitely don't have a problem telling people no lol

it's these three amazing women (and N) who keep me grounded. they know how stubborn i can be, but they're always there to support me and to encourage me when i do come around. i don't know what i'd do without them in my life. and luckily i won't have to find out :)

who's in your support network?

2.0 down

not as big of a payoff as i'd hoped, but still worth the effort. ive been doing really well with water these last few weeks. i'm back up to 6 glasses a day as of wednesday :) my other goals, as im sure you can imagine, are not going as well. ive been really lazy this week. lacking motivation and time... well that's half true. definitely lacking motivation. time is difficult because i have it, but not really. im kinda stressing about grad school right now so im trying to focus on making time for school work. which doesnt leave me time for working out or cooking. all the food i make is quick and easy, which isnt terrible. it just lacks in variety and substance sometimes. ive yet to try a recipe in the cookbook i borrowed or in the food network magazine. i'd get N to cook for me (he enjoys cooking so much more than i do), but he's doing his own weight loss thing right now

i probably wouldn't feel so guilty about my lackluster week, except i'm going out a lot. thursday, i had a burger and fries from whole foods. last night, i had pizza and martinis in dc and baltimore (yea, im crazy). tonight, mom wants to do "milk and cookies" with S and me (it's alcoholic "milk" lol). tomorrow, N and i are going out for restaurant week. monday, we're going to GGBB at ram's head. tuesday, i'm having dinner with BR after class... holy crap! i need to do so much working out to balance all of that shit... or stock up on filling foods with 0 points. im more inclined to follow option B because i'm just not in the moody to move...

where did my motivation go?

got the message

i've had a post rolling around in my head for a couple months. for some reason i just can't write it. today's events with kevin smith and southwest airlines reminded me of the post, and i still cant get all the words to fit together. i will eventually write the full thing... i think...

[update] steph makes a very good point. not everyone is a stick by choice; don't be so quick to shove a sandwich at every skinny person you see. we should all be able to be happy with our size :p

[update2] it appears that i deleted some of the original text when i previously updated. this post makes 1/2 sense now :(

marvelous tuesday

this week is brought to you by SNOWMAGEDDON 2 & 3

because of the crazy snow MD got over the weekend (and is currently getting as i type), i did a lot of shoveling the last few days. the boys and i (more so the boys at some points) dug out our three cars and helped two neighbors dig out theirs. then today, i went for a walk through the snow. combine all the snow fun with my other workouts, and i earned 16 activity points. lately, a typical week gets me about 4 points so i'm super excited about how it'll reflect on the scale. unfortunately, with all this snow, i don't think there will be meetings tomorrow. so i won't have an official weigh in until next week :(

i've got my fingers crossed that i can keep up the progress so that next week's weigh in will be even more awesome :)

1.2 down

looks like im somewhat back on track :) this of course puts me around 1.6 away from where i wanted to be at this point. i haven't done the full numbers, but i essentially need to lose an extra 0.4 every week to hit my 20 lbs in 20 weeks goal. i'm trying not to put the extra pressure on myself because it'll be that much more disappointing if i falter (or fail completely)

in other news... i've been thinking about plastic surgery. not as a short cut to weight loss or to majorly alter my appearance (im not crazy heidi montag). however, i've been thinking about my arms. my icky flabby granny sagged arms. i honestly hate them, and nothing i do seems to have any affect on the jiggly bits. so i've been contemplating having something done to reduce the flab at some point in the future. luckily, i have time to mull it over

how do you feel about elective, cosmetic surgery?

gloomy gus

seems like i've been gone forever. sorry about that. i've been having a grumpy week (pre-period hormone overload), and wasn't motivated enough for a marvelous monday. but, today, im grasping at little things to cheer me up. new attitude requires a new blog background, right? i hope you like it as much as i do... i also tweaked the sidebar a little bit. i decided to clean up my blog rolls since i'm following a million people these days. if you aren't listed, it's not that i don't love you. i'm trying to streamline this into weight loss (and breast cancer awareness?) related items. besides, you're probably on my other blog roll :)

in other news, i upped my activity and water goals today. activity got bumped from 15-20 to 20-30; water is now 5 glasses per day. i'm not adding/adjusting any other goals because i'm still stuck on the veggie situation. i think part of my problem is i limit myself to salads, soups and sauces... well not limited on purpose, but that's all i have in the house right now. im waiting til i get paid so i can do some major grocery shopping. i also grabbed the traveling cookbook (it's a shared cookbook for our weight watchers group) in hopes of gathering new ideas. otherwise, i might just start slicing tomatoes into everything and call it a day :p

1.4 up

i'm not surprised, but i'm still not happy. i'm still working through last week's back to basics goal. it's going... ok. im faltering on the veggies, but i've managed to get my servings in more days than not. activity is kind of in the same boat. the only task i'm doing well on is the water. i've gotten my four glasses in every single day

i'm really looking forward to this weekend - getting together with the girls at H's. she warned us yesterday that we will be hiking :) i hope the weather cooperates [another snow storm is hitting the VA/MD/PA area] because im excited to see the mountains

not much else to report. this has been a rather uneventful week. here's to next week being better :)

marvelous monday

this week brought to you by flexibility.

i'm not sure if i was always a flexible kid, but whatever flexibility i had was enhanced by 3.5 years of dance and 3 years of cheerleading (oh yea, this bitch was a cheerleader). it seems people are always amazed by my flexibility; personally, i'm more amazed that i don't have to do much to maintain it. i stretch randomly just because. i'm the weird girl who occasionally reads textbooks on the floor in a full, to the floor butterfly stretch... come to think of it, that'll be me tonight... otherwise, i don't really stretch after working out, and i don't do yoga. i'm naturally limber, upping my awesomeness

...all of this was just to say that i worked out yesterday - turbo jam and wii swordplay. and i kneed myself in the boob. yea, that was great lol

what's inspiring your week?
